Our Eastern Iowa client is
searching for a buyer to immediately join their expanding team! The
buyer is responsible for managing strategic sourcing for
purchased commodities and outsourcing programs to support business and
supply chain objectives. This position will focus efforts and implement
new initiatives to effectively manage the supply base.
Responsibilities for the position
include:
Establishing/Implementing short and long-term
project plans with appropriate timelines regarding: Supplier
Consolidation, Supplier Development, Purchased Inventory Turns, and
Material & Total Cost Reduction. Facilitate materials professionals in
achieving those plans.
Leading or participating in cross-functional teams
for supplier consolidation and domestic / off shore sourcing programs
according to supply chain strategies. Manage programs as a change
agent with other functions like Quality, Finance, Engineering,
Manufacturing, and Fisher Sourcing.
Assisting in determining Make vs. Buy initiatives.
Leading facets of the outsourcing programs including: scope, supplier
assessment & negotiation, financial justification, and project plan
implementation.
Evaluating supplier management and manufacturing
capabilities for supplier qualification to meet or exceed supply chain
expectations. Establishing new supplier management initiatives and
monitor market trends to circumvent potential problems and maximize
business opportunities.
Assisting / leading negotiations in blanket orders
and supplier agreements with key suppliers to improve economics,
improve overall supply, and ensure competitive advantage in the
marketplace.
Developing and managing those key supplier
relationships.
Managing purchasing spends and the supplier
selection process for each commodity and supply chain strategy.
Assisting in yearly and monitoring sourcing and savings plans,
budgets, etc.
Focusing on supplier development activities like
VMI, pull programs, yearly cost down activities, and executing
value-add in supplier business relationships. Managing commodities
through performance improvement metrics according to management
guidelines.
Promoting and display effective interdepartmental
and supply base communication through professional relations and
actions in representing Barnstead International and the Fisher Lab
Equipment Group. Facilitating and instruct materials personnel in
tactical functions and strategic direction.
Requirements for the opportunity
include a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; and a minimum of eight years
of commodity management and sourcing experience in an ERP and lean
driven manufacturing environment. Must have effective communication
skills, proficient PC skills and the experience in supervising / leading
personnel. Certifications in Purchasing Management and
Production/Inventory Management are preferred.
