Midwest Quality Engineer  

Our Eastern Iowa client is searching for a Quality Engineer to immediately join their expanding team!  The Quality Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining the inspection program. This position helps to develop and promote programs to improve productivity through quality improvement methods such as Parts Specification Standards, Quality Teams, Work Simplification, Lean methods, etc.  This position uses computer programs to document findings and develop trend analysis reports.  To be successful in this role you must have education and ability to use all types of inspection equipment. 

Responsibilities for the position include:

  • Acting as facilitator for the quality/process improvement teams and interfaces teams suggestions with other departments.

  • Participating as a team member in supporting OEM products and customers.

  • Assisting QA Manager in the development of testing and inspection procedures and methods as needed for all parts.

  • Directing the training of inspectors, assists workers and supervisors in job methods and technical programs associated with inspection and quality assurance.

  • Performing root cause investigations and determination of corrective action in regard to quality issues, methods, and equipment   Preparing reports and issues recommendations for corrective action such as D.M.R.'s, E.C.R.'s, special reports, and develops C.A.R.'s to support the system.

  • Performing and/or facilitates verification of parts produced in-house and from outside suppliers.  Developing the 1st piece inspection form and, in conjunction with the Project Engineer, approves the parts, print and inspection guide.

  • Assisting the Manager of Purchasing in the certification of suppliers.  Visit suppliers' facility s and reviews all aspects of Quality Control.

  • Enforcing use of safety equipment and guidelines as well as practicing all safety rules. 

Requirements for the opportunity include a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
