Midwest Senior Manufacturing Engineer  

 

Our client, an industry leader, is currently seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer for its manufacturing plant located in Central Iowa. 

 

Responsibilities will focus on the following areas:

  • Lead engineering projects through all phases.

  • Use lean manufacturing tools to recommend changes in current production methods, standards, tooling, procedures, equipment, plant layout, product design, and employee output as a basis for increasing production, reducing cost, improving safety, morale and quality.

  •  Troubleshooting problems and discussing solutions with all appropriate personnel to assure quality, safety, production, and plant profitability at or above standard expectations

  • Develop and recommend cost reduction and quality improvement solutions

  • Assist with employee training requirements within manufacturing and maintenance departments in skill development, troubleshooting, machine/equipment setup, and new technology

  • Assuring plant and company goals are being met; recommends measures to improve methods, equipment performance and the product

  • Conducts project activities in a way that produces cost-effective, on-time results

  • Develops best practice methods and communicates these methods to all appropriate plant personnel

  • Manages daily line issues as it relates to equipment, tooling and work instructions

  • Reviews and verifies accuracy of existing procedures, bill of materials, and route sheets to maintain common language across production lines

  • Keeps informed of new or improved designs, methods, techniques, materials and other advances in engineering technology to enhance competitive edge.

The successful candidate will possess the following: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical engineering area 

  • 5-8 years of engineering experience, preferably in areas such as metals manufacturing, plant processes, capabilities, welding, stamping, pressing, rolling and tooling, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes, methods, equipment, tooling and inspection

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to direct, motivate, and provide clear direction

  • Proven ability to prioritize projects under strict deadlines and minimal supervision

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Working knowledge of computer skill applications; Experience with AutoCad and/or SolidWorks preferred
