Our client has been in the casualty underwriting business for over 30 years. Backed by one of the largest E&S specialty writers in country, they offer niche markets a broad range of casualty products like product liability, professional liability and medical malpractice coverage. They work nationwide on both an admitted and non-admitted basis with typical limits at $5 million per occurrence. Due to expansion they have an underwriting manager position open in their Phoenix, AZ office. The position will have both underwriting and management responsibilities. You'll oversee a book of large or complex accounts comparable to approximately 50% of a senior underwriter's workload. You'll represent the company in developing new brokerage accounts and enhancing current relationships. As a manager you'll oversee the career development of a team of underwriters and support staff. You'll coordinate performance evaluations, provide strategic product direction and be involved in department budgeting. The position requires a minimum of 7 years of multi-line, E&S underwriting with an emphasis on professional lines products. One can have a strength in a single line or combination of the following classes: architects & engineers, lawyers, EPLI, D&O, allied health and E&O.
