They presently offer an opportunity to join their growing organization in a Production Underwriter position in Phoeniz, AZ. In this role you will be based out of your home. You will be responsible for building volume in AZ to the point of opening a branch office in that location. No renewal underwriting. Approximately 6 agency visits per week. Armed with laptop and wireless card, you will enter computer system to rate, quote, and bind new business. You will work with an Assistant Underwriter in Albuquerque to determine hand off point on each account. Average size account will be approximately $25,000 but can write accounts up to $500,000. Highly autonomous with very high level of underwriting authority. Calls on and appoints new agencies where needed but agency force is 90% established. May write policies on admitted paper (60%) or non-admitted paper (40%). To be considered you must offer a strong knowledge of key admitted and non-admitted competitors and the marketplace. Very good agency relations skills with excellent communication skills a must. Knowledge of construction underwriting needed with knowledge of transportation very helpful.
