Insurance Job Description

Our client is a rapidly expanding MGA with a strong market presence in commercial transportation.  Their success is derived from aggressive marketing strategies and aligning themselves with carriers and agencies entrenched in the commercial auto industry.  They seek a motivated and experienced underwriting specialist to service their most sensitive accounts.

Underwriting Specialist Responsibilities

  • Assist the sales staff in servicing new and renewal business while maintaining a high level of service

  • Take full control of marketing, communication with agents and carriers, and assisting with new business opportunities

  • Be responsible for individual account administration like policy issuance, endorsements, filings, billing, and submission underwriting

  • Help oversee the training and development of less experienced service reps

Underwriting Specialist Qualifications

  • 5-7 years experience as an account manager or underwriting assistant for an independent broker or carrier

  • Must have a transportation background

  • Understanding of filings, MCS-90, FMCSA, Safer, and other government regulations tied to transportation insurance

  • Ability to oversee a service team and improve the efficiency of a backroom support staff
