Insurance Job Description

Our client is in the process of rolling out industry-leading, sophisticated rate plans and agency systems in the small commercial insurance market. A key aspect of this initiative is the development and implementation of the detailed state pricing strategies based on both internal actuarial estimates and a complete understanding of local markets. Through daily interaction with the field and knowledge of the state loss experience, economic conditions, legal environment, claim handling changes and competitor pricing strategies, the Regional Pricing Manager has the ability to directly impact and share in the ownership of state and regional financial results.  

Regional Pricing Manager Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of pricing strategy for assigned business Region.

  • Collaborate with Field to make fact based pricing decisions based upon actuarial rate indications, claim handling trends, underwriting initiatives, competitor intelligence, regulatory and legal environments for states within assigned Region.

  • Work with Actuarial, Product, Underwriting and Sales teams in developing and implementing pricing strategies to meet profit and growth goals.

  • Provide expertise to field in evaluating the performance for office results, including book of business trends, production and loss statistics, new business flow, and business retention.

  • Partner in the development and strategic execution of business plans at the region, office and state level. Monitor progress of such business plans on a regular basis.

  • Proactive identification and management of emerging issues and market opportunities with Actuarial, Sales, Product and Underwriting teams and coordinate territory specific needs.

  • Consistently and regularly analyze competitors market strategies and product offerings within assigned Region.

  • Develop and build the Regional Pricing organization based on needs of the Region. 

Regional Pricing Manager Qualifications:

  • Commercial Lines and/or Personal Lines business experience preferred.

  • Fundamental knowledge of actuarial and financial techniques.

  • Leadership.

  • Strong communication skills that demonstrate flexibility to adjust to all audiences.

  • Strong analytical ability to dissect, manage and interpret management information.

  • Strong ability to influence.

  • Responsive and decisive decision making.

  • Expert level skill in Microsoft Excel.
